Al Furquan Brigades Video

YouTube is routinely monetizing jihadi videos as we have pointed out before–this time it’s a video posted by the Al Furquan Brigades celebrating an attack with rocket propelled grenades on Cosco Asia, a container ship, as it passed through the Suez Canal.  According to the Threat Matrix blog on Long War Journal:

[The Al Furqan Brigades also released] an online statement, which was translated by the SITE Intelligence Group… In the communiqué, the group said it carried out the attack because the Suez Canal “has become a safe passageway for the Crusader aircraft carriers to strike the Muslims, and it is the artery of the commerce of the nations of disbelief and tyranny.”

The group also denounced the Egyptian military’s ouster of the Muslim Brotherhood as well as the Brotherhood’s decision to give “legitimacy to the ballot boxes and not to Allah.” “[T]he road for Allah’s word to be supreme is the ammunition box and not the ballot box,” the statement continued.

And of course, YouTube used this as an opportunity to make a few bucks which they may be splitting with…somebody.  Why?  Because nobody told them not to.

And PS–this time these guys were using RPGs.  A couple weeks ago they were shooting machine guns at ships in the Suez.  Next up is probably a manpad shoulder launched anti-armour or thermobaric rocket which should be able to penetrate an unarmored cargo ship.  Or just a plain old suicide bomber as with Cole.  And in the memorable words of Ronnie Scott, and now, back to sleep.
