This is an incredibly simple but crucial thought that Steve Jobs expresses in this interview. I would suggest it’s one of the reasons that most artists, certainly artists who knew him, loved Steve. He made them part of the team.
I would also suggest that the failure to include artists as part of the team is an equally crucial explanation for why most artists cannot abide Daniel Ek. I make that comparison because Daniel Ek is obsessed with Steve Jobs. There’s no comparison. Why is that? I think it comes down to this simple reason: Ek never has made artists part of the team, at least not the same way that Steve did and Apple still does.
So there’s that.
